Advance your training and racing to the next level! For the more experienced triathlete
or duathlete, this course covers the training principles and programs necessary to be a
more competitive triathlete. Special consideration is given to training for ½ Ironman
and full Ironman distances. The latest information and research will be presented
regarding technique and training principles. Get started on your training plan now to
improve your performances over last season and to achieve your potential whether you
are hoping to go faster or go longer this year. Going faster and racing well is what it is

Triathlon 101: Training for and Racing Triathlons. University of Southern

An official Olympic sport since 2000, Triathlon has been enjoying explosive growth in
recent years. Combining swimming, biking and running, it is a unique challenge for
anyone interested in a fitness lifestyle and endurance sport. There are distances to
test everyone, from the sprint (400 yd. swim, 10 mi. bike, 3 mi. run) to the ultimate
endurance test, the Ironman Triathlon (2.4 mi Swim, 112 mi. Bike, 26.2 mi. run). If you
are new to triathlon, or have done a few and want to improve, this course will give you
an understanding of the unique demands for training and the basic knowledge to
formulate your own training plan to achieve your goal.
